The men’s and women’s basketball Cyclones have started off 2018 with two wins from the men and a win and a loss from the women.
On Friday, Jan. 5, the women took on Itasca at the M-State Classic and won 61-48.
Rian Lee led with 14 points, followed closely by Rachel Vreeland and Makayla Paggen, with 13 and 12 points. Paggen hit three 3-pointers and Vreeland one. Amaya Murray grabbed 10 rebounds and Brooklyn Harren 7.
On Saturday, Jan. 6, the Cyclones took on Mesabi Range at the Classic but came away with a 50-59 loss.
Paggen led with 15 points, and Lee scored 13. Lee and Cynthia Walker each snagged 10 rebounds.
The lady Cyclones are 4-8 overall this season and play Rochester at home on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 5:45 p.m.
On Friday, Jan. 5, the Cyclones took on Itasca at the M-State Classic and came away with an 85-64 win.
Mitch McDonald scored 20 points during the game, and sank four 3-pointers. Quentin Miller snagged seven rebounds, and Shariff Silas six.
On Saturday, Jan. 6, the men walked away with an 86-59 win against Mesabi Range.
Silas scored 19 points during the game. Silas, McDonald, and Caelin McAfee-McLane each scored three 3-pointers.
The Cyclones are 9-4 overall this season. They play Rochester next on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 7:30 p.m at home.
SCTCC students get in free to home games, which are held at the Whitney Recreation Center, north of SCTCC across Northway Drive.
