Student Loan Text Message Spam

Posted: Thu, 01/26/2017 - 10:36am in News

It has been brought to our attention by another Minnesota State institution that students have been receiving a spam text message regarding loan disbursements.

The text message said, “Hello (student name), your funds will be deposited immediately after confirmation,” and a link was provided with instructions to click on it to receive immediate loan disbursement.

This link is spam and is unrelated to SCTCC’s financial aid process or student loans. DO NOT follow the link or provide any information requested from it.

If you have set up direct deposit, your overage funds are automatically sent to your bank and there is nothing more that you need to do to receive those funds. If you do not have direct deposit you will be receiving a check from SCTCC sent to your local address.

If you do receive this spam text message, please contact us:
