Come up with a password no one can crack

Your password is your link to all information in your network accounts. In order to create a secure password, SCTCC requires you to use complex passwords on all campus email and network accounts.

IT has outlined the following criteria for creating complex passwords. In accordance with best business practices, passwords will now consist of 3 of the 4 items listed below:

  1. At least one upper case letter (A - Z)
  2. At least one lower case letter (a - z)
  3. At least one number (0 - 9)
  4. Special Characters

These characters are allowed: ~ ! $ % ^ & * () _ = , . / ; [] " <> {} \ |
These characters are NOT allowed: Spaces, @, ', ?, +, :

Need to change your password?

According to Minnesota State Colleges and Universities security rules, you must change your password every 180 days.

To change your password for Outlook/Office 365 - Outlook/Office 365 now uses your StarID password to login along with the new login format of StarID@go.mnscu.edu. To change that password go to https://starid.mnscu.edu/, select StarID Self Service, then select Forgot Password or Expired Password to create a new password or change your current password. If assistance is needed, please stop by room 1-405 or 1-309 or call 320.308.6445. After changing your Star ID password, please allow 10 minutes for the password change to take affect.

To change your password for e-Services, D2L Brightspace, and Campus Computer login - go to https://starid.mnscu.edu/, select StarID Self Service, then select any one of the password options to create a new password or change your current password. You only need to change it once to update all three accounts. If assistance is needed, please stop by room 1-405 or 1-309 or call 320.308.6445.

What to do if you get locked out of your account?

If you get locked out of your account and are not able to access it, visit room 1-405 or 1-309, and we would be happy to assist you.

Please be prepared to show your Cyclone ID card, so we can verify your identity.
