This legislation-titled the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Act (or CRRSAA)-provided supplemental funding to the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) for colleges and universities in the United States.
Under this legislation, St. Cloud Technical & Community College (SCTCC) received $1,527,599 in funding that is being used to provide emergency financial assistance for students with exceptional need.
For the initial distribution of awards, SCTCC has defined students with exceptional needs as being Pell eligible. Each student received an automatic award for $600. During the quarter-ended March 31, 2021, 1,205 students were awarded $600 for a total distribution of $723,000. During the quarter-end June 30, 2021, eight students were awarded $600 for an additional distribution of $4,800 bringing the total award for these awards to $727,800.
Beginning in the month of April 2021, an additional disbursement of $435 was made to all enrolled students with EFC (Expected Family Contribution) under 15,000. During the quarter-end June 30, 2021, $785,175 was distributed to 1,805 students.
During the quarter-ended September 30, 2021, an additional $6,931 was awarded to three students in the form of student balance payments.
During the quarter ended December 31, 2021, $5,385 in uncashed checks were cancelled and $13,077 in additional awards were distributed for student balance payments bringing the total student distributions $1,527,599.
At the time of distribution, all students were actively enrolled in an online, hybrid, or face-to-face credit, non-credit or continuing education course. Other eligibility criteria is listed at: SCTCC Student CRRSAA Grants.
St. Cloud Technical & Community College has also committed to spending an additional $200,000 (approximately) of the institutional portion of the funding, to provide additional financial assistance to eligible students. This additional funding is being distributed in the form of Emergency Grant Awards. These grants require an application that includes documentation of need. Student emergency grants distributed from institutional funds are reported in the Quarterly Budget and Expenditure Reporting.
