How to save and open documents
SCTCC offers network storage to all faculty and staff. Your home drive (H:) is:
- More secure than your hard drive (C:) or flash drive (E:) because it is protected by your password and backed-up.
- Convenient because you can access files saved there from any networked PC on campus.
Saving files to your home drive (H:)
- Create the document
- Click the File menu
- Click Save As
- Scroll down to Computer in the menu of the Save in box.
- Click your home directory. Yours should be username (H:).
- Click in File Name box
- Type in a filename. You can use underlines or hyphens in place of spaces.
- Click Save
- The document is now saved to your home directory (H:)
To open the file for revision from a computer on the SCTCC network:
- Double click My Computer
- Double click Your username (H:)
- Double click filename
- Cannot access your H: drive off campus
To save the revision:
- Click File in the menu bar
- Click Save
- Or click the Save icon in the standard toolbar.
