In early June, five SCTCC students headed to Atlanta to compete in the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference after placing first in their respective competitions at the state level earlier this spring.
Carter Bolduc (HVAC/R), Ben Everson (Electrical), William Kuhn (PSEO Electrical), Vincent Sohlstrom (Automotives), and Simon Hafstad (PSEO Automotives) attended the national event alongside their instructors and 19,000 other attendees.
In addition to the SkillsUSA Championships, students had the opportunity to attend professional development sessions, learn about new technologies in the field, and network with industry and education partners. Students and instructors were also able to take advantage of some downtime to attend a baseball game and check out Atlanta.
Hafstad, from St. Cloud, placed sixth in the high school division of Maintenance and Light Repair.
Sohlstrom, from Foley, placed ninth in Automotive Service and Repair.
