The SCTCC to SCSU Husky Transfer Hub has been a long time coming, but it will be open for students to learn more about options after SCTCC starting this fall semester.
“We’re hoping to make it a one-stop shop for SCTCC students who are exploring transferring and continuing on for their bachelor’s degree,” explained Michael Coonen, Director of Transfer Partnerships and Collaboration.
The Husky Transfer Hub is located in Northway 1-133, next to the Safety & Security Office. It will be staffed daily to answer questions and help plan class requirements for transferring. They will be work together with SCTCC Advisors to make sure students planning on transferring to SCSU are on track.
It’s not just for students focused on generals, either. There are 40 different documented pathways from SCTCC to SCSU, including several Transfer Pathway degrees at SCTCC like Spanish, Psychology, and Biology. Other programs also have transfer agreements; for example, Land Surveying/Civil Engineering has had an agreement for many years for students to start at SCTCC and transfer their classes easily to finish up a bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying and Mapping Science.
SCSU has had a presence at SCTCC to assist with transfer questions for close to ten years, but with the number of students who go to SCSU after graduating, it made sense to grow the relationship and have more presence on the SCTCC campus.
“We needed additional space to be more permanent and really be ingrained in the SCTCC space and culture,” noted Coonen.
There are plans to expand the transfer options for SCTCC students, so the transfer representatives are excited to be on campus and available for conversations. Additionally, tudents don’t have to be on-campus to chat with one of them. They will be able to connect via phone, online, or even meet for coffee.
“We’re really, really flexible. We want to help you and be able to facilitate some of these conversations,” said Coonen.
Students can drop by 1-133 to learn more or email scsu4u@stcloudstate.edu to get a hold of a rep. The team will also be at Cyclone Alley on Aug. 26 with more information.
