After practicing their presentation skills and problem-solving techniques with professionals from business and industry, the SCTCC Collegiate DECA team headed to the state conference and walked away with several first-, second-, and third-place wins.
Collegiate DECA prepares students for future careers by integrating classroom skills with real-world experiences. In addition to the competitions, the conference give students the opportunity to explore internships, scholarships, and professional networking.
The Minnesota State Career Development Conference was held in Willmar Feb. 19-20 where nine SCTCC students attended and all nine placed.

The DECA supporters include Denise DeJuliannie, Daniel Walter, Melissa Graham, Dustin Green, Shaun Keeley, Matt Evans (former DECA President), and advisors Sharon Shofner-Meyer and Becky Shand. The practice and support they have given DECA students truly made a difference in their preparation for the state event.
After this win for the team, they are looking ahead to the International Career and Development Conference in Louisville, Ky. April 18-21. Congratulations, DECA members!
