
The SCTCC SkillsUSA contingent traveled to Atlanta in June to compete during the National Leadership and Skills Conference, during which they competed with other state representatives in skilled trades in the SkillsUSA Championship.
Electrical
Kaden Georges placed fourth in Electrical Construction Wiring. Zech Andersen place fifth in Industrial Motor Control. William Kuhn, who placed first in the state competition for Electrical Construction Wiring, was unable to attend the national competition.
Heating, Air Conditioning, & Refrigeration
Cade Barringer, a PSEO student, placed seventh in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration competition.
Auto Body Technician
Lucas Kunstleben, a PSEO student, placed fifth in the Automotive Refinishing Technology competition.
Automotive Service Technician
LJ Olsen competed in the Automotive Service category.
The conference is the largest gathering of the future in skilled trades and careers and focuses on celebrating the accomplishments of students both from high school and college. About 19,000 students, instructors, industry partners, administrators, and government representatives attend the week-long event.
The SkillsUSA Championship brings together more than 6,500 state champions to compete in 114 skills and leadership competitions.
Competing in SkillsUSA is a significant part of education for the skilled trades and prepares SCTCC students for success in their careers. By combining personal and workplace skills alongside technical skills, employers know that graduates are ready to start their jobs with confidence and ability.
