Students can submit articles and events by emailing the information to bvolkmuth@sctcc.edu and put CAE Newsletter Submission in the subject line.

CYRIN Newsletter: Advanced Persistent Threats

Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) pose a unique challenge with motives, techniques, and tactics that differ from traditional cyberattacks.

Secure 360 Conference

The annual Secure360 Conference is organized by the Upper Midwest Security Alliance (UMSA), a non-profit organization. In the heart of the American landscape, UMSA serves business, government, and education workers. The UMSA member organizations formed Secure360 in 2004 to explore professional security integration prospects. This collaborative, multi-faceted conference offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend a high-quality national conference without having to go to Orlando or Las Vegas.

Watch for details from your faculty about potentially attending this conference as a group.

You can view more information about the conference here: Secure 360 Conference 2023

This month’s Cybersecurity TEDTalk

The 1s and 0s behind cyber warfare

Chris Domas is a cybersecurity researcher, operating on what's become a new front of war, "cyber." In this engaging talk, he shows how researchers use pattern recognition and reverse engineering (and pull a few all-nighters) to understand a chunk of binary code whose purpose and contents they don't know.
