Honoring and Engaging our Communities Workshop - Session 2

Intersecting Realities: Domestic Violence & FGM

Speaker: Rebekkah Ruth
Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking conversation as we explore the complex realities and intersections of Domestic Violence and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)—two distinct yet deeply interconnected forms of gender-based violence (GBV). These harmful practices are rooted in patriarchal norms and the systemic control of women’s bodies and autonomy, impacting individuals and communities both locally and globally. Our discussion will center on shared themes, including:

  • Health and psychological impacts
  • Cultural and social norms
  • Power and control
  • Violation of human rights
  • Intersectionality and marginalization

Featuring an expert voice in our community, this event aims to raise awareness, deepen understanding, and spark action toward the elimination of all forms of GBV.
