Student Learning Outcomes
This course builds knowledge of Microsoft Excel with a concentration on the accounting and finance process. Foundational knowledge is built by introducing the basics of creating and modifying formats to expand depth in the functions of formulas, charts, styles, and conditional formatting. Advanced applications teach students how to create pivot tables to consolidate data, conduct data analysis using software tools, and automate repetitive tasks with macros. Students solve real world problems by applying course concepts.

- Perform calculations using mathematical, statistical, financial, lookup and logical functions.
- Develop formulas containing relative and absolute cell references.
- Create conditional formatting to highlight pertinent information.
- Learn to manage documents, files and folders to organize spreadsheets.
- Consolidate data from multiple spreadsheet/workbooks to generate information.
- Create various chart types using spreadsheet data with attention-getters to pinpoint outliers.
- Employ data management tools such as filters, hide columns, split screen, and freeze pane on large spreadsheets to to produce information.
- Employ what-if-analysis to forecast future scenarios.
- Use Microsoft online help feature to solve unexpected problems in real-world situations.
