Student Learning Outcomes
This course fulfils course requirements for the Biomedical Equipment Technology program. This is an introductory course to the biomedical field as it relates to healthcare technology management (HTM). This course prepares students for the requirements of regulatory agencies, introduces them to computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), and explains the role of biomedical professionals in the management of information including work orders. This course includes a lab component that emphasizes accurate data collection and analysis. This course will also expose individuals to the many opportunities within the HTM field.Student Learning Outcomes
- Identify various regulatory agencies responsible for oversight of healthcare operations.
- Create appropriate work order documentation using a computerized maintenance management system.
- Differentiate between subjective and objective data within the CMMS system.
- Describe medical gas safety systems.
- Explain patient privacy and confidentiality policies.
- Apply appropriate safety procedures when working in the biomedical lab.
- Identify proper personal protection equipment (PPE) for various infectious disease scenarios and isolation precautions.
