Student Learning Outcomes
This course prepares students with the foundations needed to understand how companies gain and sustain competitive advantage in a fast-changing world. Students will develop skills to become successful leaders that are able to make well-reasoned formal decisions for use in day-to-day management as well for the development, communication and implementation of business strategy and vision. Students will culminate their learning by researching a local business and applying the strategy development process to the proposal of new strategies for this business. Student Learning Outcomes
- Apply the criteria of formal decision making through case problems and real business examples for general business decisions in the strategic development process.
- Implement situational leadership models in case problems and real business scenarios to determine the appropriate management approach and decision-making style.
- Demonstrate motivational theories for business situations.
- Execute the strategic development process by researching a local company and developing a proposal of new business strategies.
- Distinguish between corporate and business strategies when writing a new strategy proposal.
- Conduct an internal and external analysis of a business in order to incorporate shared value and competitive advantage into the new business strategy proposal.
- Recognize various control mechanisms to be used in the implementation of proposed business strategies.
- Discuss the importance of diversity in business leaders' backgrounds conducive to successful business strategies.
