Student Learning Outcomes
Students will be exposed to different pathologies of the male and female reproductive systems, obstetrics covering all trimesters, breast and vascular systems. This course will focus on ultrasound findings, scanning techniques, patient history, laboratory data, and other imaging modalities to help better understand how to interpret pathology. Emphasis will focus on descriptive and anatomical terminology, clinic data, grayscale imaging, protocols, and Doppler characteristics as seen with various pathologies. Student Learning Outcomes
- Determine sonographic technique and protocols used to evaluate the male and female pelvis.
- Identify normal and abnormal sonographic appearances of the male and female pelvis.
- Determine sonographic technique and protocol used to evaluate the female breast.
- Identify normal and abnormal sonographic appearances of the female breast.
Determine obstetric measurements used for gestational age and fetal growth assessment. - Investigate pertinent patient history and laboratory data that apply to the obstetric and gynecological ultrasound exams.
- Analyze Doppler characteristics used in obstetric and gynecological ultrasound exams.
- Review ultrasound pathology case studies of pregnant and non-pregnant female pelvis.
- Write mock obstetric and gynecologic diagnostic medical sonographer reports.
