Student Learning Outcomes
This course is designed to examine the role and teaching strategies of professionals who work in early childhood settings. These strategies apply knowledge in child development, program development, intervention, and assessment. This course provides research-based, trauma-informed practices to support successful instruction and program development with infant, toddler, and preschool children in early childhood center-based education environments. - Examine play-based learning through an understanding of Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP).
- Design instruction using the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress (MN ECIPS).
- Plan lessons for early childhood center-based environments.
- Examine the role of primary caregivers in supporting early childhood education programs.
- Create learning experiences addressing all developmental domains.
- Integrate curriculum adaptations in response to student needs.
- Differentiate curriculum to address the diversity of learners.
