Student Learning Outcomes
This course prepares paramedic students to provide pre-hospital care within the scope of practice and capacity of the paramedic to ill or injured individuals. The course focuses on patient assessment, airway control and emergency response and management. In addition, related topics covered include acquiring patient health history, the standard techniques of physical examination, basic thru advanced airway procedures. Student Learning Outcomes
- Perform a history and comprehensive physical exam on various patient populations;
- Perform by establishing and/or maintaining a patient airway;
- Demonstrate oxygenation and ventilation of a patient;
- Differentiate respiratory distress, failure and arrest;
- Interpret results of monitoring devices used in EMS patient assessments.
