Meets MN Transfer Curriculum Goal Areas 6 & 7a -The Humanities and Fine Arts & Human Diversity. This course examines and evaluates the contributions of women and femme authors in literature. Feminist theories and literary analysis will be applied to examine how social, cultural, and institutional statuses affect the lives of women and femmes. There will be a focus on how power dynamics play a role in shaping feminine images in literature.Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate familiarity with historical and contemporary literature written by women and femme authors.
- Evaluate the impact of women and femme voices on literature and individual expression.
- Evaluate literature written by women and femme authors in relationship to the values of personal, institutional, and cultural expectations.
- Demonstrate an understanding of alternative writing styles women and femme authors have used to explore societal roles and search for identity.
- Analyze personal biases, attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs through literature written by women and femme authors.
- Create informed personal responses to literature written by women and femme authors.
