Student Learning Outcomes

Students will perform calculations related to the civil engineering and land surveying industry. These include: geometry, trigonometry, volumes, bearings/azimuths, latitudes/departures, and area traverse calculations. Students will learn terminology regarding horizontal and vertical curves, and also learn how to calculate key stations and elevations along these curves.Student Learning Outcomes
  • Calculate geometry and trigonometry problems frequently used in the civil engineering and land surveying field.
  • Examine horizontal and vertical curve terminology.
  • Calculate vertical curve stations and elevations.
  • Determine horizontal curve geometry and stations.
  • Compute traverse adjustments.
  • Apply industry standards to highway design computations.
