Student Learning Outcomes
This course will introduce and build proficiency in the use of Adobe InDesign, the industry-standard software for layout and page design. Students learn the fundamental principles of page layout, including typography, color, graphics and styles. Students learn essential design concepts and techniques used in the design and design pieces that reflect industry standards using this layout and page design software.

- Recognize design characteristics, including the proper use of fonts, consistent alignment, and color techniques, that enhance print layouts.
- Apply composition and layout design techniques to create various layout formats.
- Practice the creative integration of type, text and images into formats unique to print media.
- Differentiate appropriate uses among bitmap and vector graphics.
- Design and layout a variety of print and digital documents.
- Create text with full control over textual styling, formatting and copy fitting.
- Develop various layout concept ideas to create final layouts as part of the creative process.
- Demonstrate project management skills in meeting project deadlines.
