On May 14, SCTCC celebrated the conclusion of the first academic year of the partnership between Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota, Sauk Rapids-Rice High School, and employees who took part in the Bigs on Campus program.
The partnership, which was signed into effect last May, officially kicked off the Bigs on Campus this past fall, with 12 matches meeting 15 times October-May on campus to take part in different activities or just chat.
A few of the more interesting activities the students talked about were the infant mannequins in Health Sciences, the anatomage table in biology, and bending electrical pipe.
“Littles, I hear repeatedly from your Bigs how much they learn from you, how positive the experience is, how grateful they are that you are here, and that you get to do and experience cool things with your Big,” said President Lori Kloos during the celebration. “Thank you to all our community members for supporting this. It’s wonderful that people come together and make such a positive impact in so many ways; we accomplish so many things by working together.”
More information on the 2024-2025 Bigs on Campus at SCTCC will be available later this summer.
