Environmental Science students had the opportunity to take part in a research project at Bemidji State University when instructor Khaldoun Ahmad took his class to BSU in April.

“The students had a good experience and learned how to deal with a real research project,” said Ahmad.

Caitlin Berger, Hanna Warner, Richard Kenfack Metangmo, Gracie Wilhelm, and Konnor Warzecha worked on a research project that identifies the impact of pollutants on perch fish.

“I thought this was a great opportunity. I liked that I got more hands-on experience in the lab and out in the field. It's a great way to gain lab experience, but also get a feel for the campus,” said Berger.

While they were there, they also attended class lectures, got to know the instructors at BSU, and got a feel for the campus. The students all had a good experience, from the lab work to learning more about transfer options from SCTCC.

“I can truly say our lab’s work was so exciting and relaxed in the sense it was performed during a long period of time [during] which none of us was bored."
