On Wednesday, April 17, the Minnesota State Board of Trustees announced their Awards for Excellence.
The 2024 faculty selection for SCTCC’s Outstanding Educator was Dr. Luke Green, who teaches Communication Studies.
“Dr. Green’s students develop learning portfolios that involve them in learning outcomes and assessments, and they also benefit from his work to reduce high textbook costs which resulted in an award-winning electronic textbook,” noted the Board.
Each institution in Minnesota State identifies a faculty member who is an exemplary educator through a local committee process and nominated by the president for selection as an Educator of the Year.
"I like to help students find their voice and encourage them to approach education enthusiastically,” Green said. “My ability to achieve this has been made possible through the invaluable mentorship of my colleagues and the motivating elements infused throughout our campus. To be selected as SCTCC's Board of Trustees Outstanding Educator is an awesome privilege."
The awards are an annual recognition event for superior commitment to student learning that encourages the ongoing pursuit of excellence at the colleges and universities in the system.
