At the 2024 Martin Luther King Jr. community celebration on Jan. 15, SCTCC Director of Cultural Fluency, Equity, and Inclusion, Njeri Clement, was awarded the Humanitarian Award.

The award recognizes groups or individuals who have done innovative service or outreach in the community that have gone largely unnoticed, celebrating those who live the idea of MLK every day.

“My motivation stems from a profound belief in the transformative power of collective efforts, where collaboration with individuals and organizations both locally and globally becomes instrumental in fostering equitable and positive change,” said Clement when asked what inspires her to do work in the community.

The qualifications for the award are: unrecognized impact; innovative services; community outreach; and local focus.

The awards were presented at the community breakfast held as part of the MLK celebrations sponsored by SCTCC and co-hosted by the City of St. Cloud and SCSU.
