The Sonography Club got a chance to network and attend lectures during a yearly conference held April 1-2, and two of the members placed third in the poster contest.
Dana Doering and Kristen Mueller’s poster about Carotid Duplex Imaging was one of 29 posters entered in the contest held by the Midwest Society of Diagnostic Ultrasound, which is only one of a handful of such organizations in the US.
Erika Schulte, the president of the club, said “It was a fantastic opportunity to meet current professionals and attend lectures on a variety of topics. We all competed in a poster contest with students from other sonography programs, and two of our students' poster won third place!”
Founded in 1975, the MSDU promotes, advances, and educates its members and the medical community in the science of diagnostic medical sonography. The conference held in early April was is 40th Annual Spring Seminar, which is attended by between 250-300 regional sonographers and students.
Instructor Jeff Gunderson has been a board member of MDSU for 14 years and was excited to have the conference back in person after a hiatus due to the pandemic.
“I am so proud of my students as they represented our college very well at this conference,” said Gunderson. “Our students did well answering questions when asked by guest lectures. It is my hope that our students that attend this conference will some day serve on the [MDSU] society. The future is our students in our programs.”
Congratulations to Dana and Kristen on their winning poster! Learn more about the Sonography program.
