This course will teach students to write effectively for the business and professional world. Students will learn how to research, write, and design appealing and productive print and electronic documents. Assignments will parallel the writing demands students will face both in college and in the workplace and may include e-mails, memos, reports, graphics, instructions, proposals, collaborative writing, descriptions and job search materials. - Create various styles of technical and professional writings
- Select appropriate communication channels and formats that meet rhetorical situation, author intention and audience need.
- Construct materials used in job search/application.
- Demonstrate writing processes used in workplace setting and throughout higher education, including research, invention, organization, drafting, revision, editing and presentation.
- Evaluate sources for currency, relevance, authority, accuracy, and purpose.
- Synthesize information from sources to create an organized and complete depiction of a topic or concept.
- Generate writing that demonstrates knowledge of author's objectives, audience needs, and rhetorical situations in professional settings.
- Demonstrate proper grammar and mechanics.
