Student Learning Outcomes
This course serves as an internship to prepare students for entry into the health information management field, offering authentic, experiential learning of the day-to-day tasks, policies and procedures related to Health Information. Students will complete their practice experience under the supervision of a qualified health information professional within a Health Information department. Internships may be clinic-based or virtual. The course also offers PPE activities to prepare for and simulate on-the-job tasks. This course is intended to be completed in the last semester of the Health Information Technology program. Students who completed BUSM 1290 as part of the Medical Coding Diploma may take this course for 1 credit and are exempt from outcome #1. Student Learning Outcomes
