Student Learning Outcomes
Students will gain an understanding and develop skills, knowledge, and attitude necessary to be successful in the water and wastewater treatment program. Student will study water and wastewater terminology, identify operator duties, identify different treatment processes, identify sources of water and define water characteristics. Students will learn the impacts people have, due to group and individual behaviors, on water resources and the treatment processes designed to limit those effects. This course will distinctly define the differences between water and wastewater treatment facilities.Student Learning Outcomes
- Identify, and describe treatment facilities and processes utilized in water and wastewater treatment, including collection and distribution systems.
- Differentiate between ground water and surface water sources.
- Differentiate between physical, chemical, biological and radiological characteristics of water and wastewater.
- Develop base knowledge regarding regulatory requirements for water and wastewater treatment.
- List and describe duties and responsibilities of water and wastewater treatment plant professionals.
- Define cultural differences relating to availability of potable water supplies.
