St. Cloud Technical & Community College (SCTCC) is excited to announce that Lori Kloos has been named to serve as president by the Minnesota State Board of Trustees. Kloos has been serving as interim president of SCTCC since July 2022, succeeding Annesa Cheek, who served as president 2018-2022. The appointment of Kloos as the permanent president of SCTCC is effective immediately.
SCTCC will host a welcome reception for Kloos with remarks from Minnesota State Chancellor Devinder Malhotra on Friday, Jan. 27, 1:30-2:30 p.m. The community, students, faculty, and staff are all welcome to attend the event, which will be held in the SCTCC Main Entrance Lobby (Door 1).
“Lori is a dedicated and principled leader with an analytical mind, keen attention to details, and excellent communication skills,” said Malhotra. “She is well regarded and well connected with the greater St. Cloud community and the greater region and has been a critical member of the administration at St. Cloud Technical & Community College for over two decades. Lori will indeed be a steady hand and provide the strong leadership that the college and community are asking for.”
Kloos is an experienced higher education professional committed to continuous improvement and excellence in performance. Prior to her appointment as interim president, Kloos served SCTCC as vice president of administration and chief financial officer from 2000 until 2022. In this capacity, she was an integral member of the executive leadership team and worked with the president and other administrative leaders to set the strategic direction of the college. Her responsibilities have included providing leadership and management of finances and budgets to establish and maintain fiscal sustainability while ensuring academic needs of students are met.
She also served as SCTCC’s interim president 2017-2018 and as acting president in 2005 and 2022. She holds a diploma from Austin Area Vocational Technical Institute (now Riverland Community College) and a bachelor’s degree from Moorhead State University (now Minnesota State University Moorhead).
