Students from the Medium/Heavy Truck program at SCTCC brought home three medals from the 2017 SkillsUSA Minnesota State Conference held March 31-April 2.
Matt Sowada placed second in the Diesel Equipment Technology contest, which is the biggest of all Skills contests with about 50 contestants.
Sowada also placed second in the Mechanical Dexterity competition.
Josh Pyka placed third in the Mechanical Dexterity competition.
“This was great year for our program as well as Transportation as a whole,” said Matt Hoepner, M/HT instructor. “I think the transportation programs brought home 8 total medals this year!”
SkillsUSA Minnesota is a Career & Technical Organization that provides leadership training, volunteer opportunities, competitions, and conferences to enhance students’ self-worth and employability skills. Winners of the state contests have the opportunity to go on to a national level competition.
