The Multicultural Center hosted SCTCC’s first Academic Excellence and Achievement Graduation Celebration on May 11, 2022.
The celebration recognized graduates who are first generation college students, students who belong to an underrepresented group, veterans, and those who graduated with honors.
During the ceremony, Veterans were presented with a red, white, and blue cords to wear with their cap and gown during commencement. The students being recognized were presented a lapel pin to wear during commencement and a certificate of achievement.
The event also allowed the graduates to honor faculty and staff who have deeply impacted their lives during their time at SCTCC. There was live music performed by Somalian artist Dalmar Yare and Kenyan American musician Matthew Mwangi. After the celebration there was a reception for the graduates, their families, faculty, and staff.
