New Faces on the DECA Officer team!
By Jacob Bertram, Collegiate DECA Public Relations Officer
With the new school year up and running, it is time for extracurriculars to start as well. Distributive Education Clubs of American, otherwise known as DECA, started off with a great start! We are proud to announce this year’s officer team.
Coby Peterson, Collegiate DECA President/Treasurer
Colby is from Alexandria, MN and this is his first year at SCTCC. He is in the Marketing Sales Management program. He enjoys fishing and hunting in his free time. Colby joined DECA to further his career in business and in hopes that it will help him get his dream job. Colby is excited to meet professionals in the business field.
Samantha Macho, Collegiate DECA Recorder
Sam was born and raised in St. Cloud. She is in her 2nd year at SCTCC and is studying Marketing Sales Management. She got into Collegiate DECA because she was seeing all the things they do from the outside and she wanted to be in on the fun. Sam likes all sports/athletics, outdoors, motorsports, relaxing at home with her family dog, and social justice/human rights. Sam is looking forward to getting involved with more people that share an interest in business and professionalism.
Jacob Bertram, Collegiate DECA Public Relations
I am from Paynesville, MN and I am studying Marketing, Sales, Management. This is my second year at SCTCC. I am also the Student Senate President for the second year. I enjoy announcing sporting events, playing cards, riding motorcycle, and talking politics. I was involved in DECA last year and I really enjoyed it. This year I am looking forward to the competitions and networking with new business professionals.
Jake Avdem, Collegiate DECA Student Senate Rep
Jake is from Pekin, North Dakota and he is studying Marketing Sales Management. He plays baseball for the SCTCC Cyclones and loves to go out and do anything baseball with his teammates. He also loves to play basketball and video games. Jake joined DECA because his high school did not offer this club and he heard from others that he would like it as well as benefit from it. Jake is looking forward to the competitions as well as hosting our own virtual event.
Amy Dvorak, Collegiate DECA Student Senate Rep
Amy is from Cokato, MN. She is working toward her Business Management degree. She had an interest in DECA when Becky talked to her about joining last spring. Amy enjoys baking, watching tv, reading, and hanging out with friends. Amy is looking forward to strengthening her leadership skills.
If you are interested in joining our club please reach out to our DECA advisor Becky Shand at rshand@sctcc.edu or contact one of the members of the officer team. On behalf of the DECA team we wish everyone the best this school year and we hope to see you at our networking events!
