The Dental Hygienist students got to participate in government relations on February when they joined the Minnesota Dental Hygienists Association at their annual Day at the Capitol.
Students got to meet with Minnesota state senators and representatives to discuss access to dental care in the state and what is needed for dental education.
The association commits to advancing the art and science of dental hygiene through awareness of and access to quality oral health care; supporting high standards of education, licensure, and practice; and promoting the interests for dental hygiene. They meet at the Capitol yearly and are particularly concerned with cutting corners in the industry when it comes to education and licensure to adjust to workforce shortages.
