SCTCC's Human Resources Team was nominated by Cabinet Members for their outstanding service to the college. This April, they were recognized at the system level with the 2024 Human Resources All Star Award!
Here's some excerpts from the nomination detailing why the team deserved to be recognized:
The HR team provides outstanding day-to-day service by holding themselves to the highest standard of responsiveness, clear communication, efficiency, and support. Each of the four members of the team plays an integral role in allowing SCTCC employees to best focus their efforts on their own roles and duties while providing help and support as they navigate benefits, payroll, HR policies and procedures, and other related employment questions or concerns.
Their support in hiring is comprehensive and they provide an inclusive and transparent hiring process that includes easy navigation for staff and faculty to participate in candidate searches, open forums, interviews, and feedback.
Alongside an experienced and dedicated team, Kari Matson's relatable, professional, and people-focused approach to her leadership has been refreshing and just what was needed to move both the HR office and the College forward. She has worked to fully incorporate an antiracist ethos in her work—recognizing that HR is a critical partner in equity work—and has been a leading advocate for changing business practices that have been barriers in the past.
