Student Learning Outcomes
This course will provide the student with an understanding of Federal regulations as they apply to Aviation Maintenance Technicians. Covered materials will include supplemental and Type Certification Data Sheets (TCDS), Airworthiness Directives (ADs) Advisory Materials, and the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).Student Learning Outcomes
- Locate applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) aircraft specifications and FAA TCDS for an aircraft or component.
- Check a Technical Standard Order (TSO) or part manufacturing authorization for the proper markings
- Locate supplemental type certificates applicable to a specific aircraft.
- Determine whether a given repair or alteration is major or minor.
- Explain the difference between ?approved data? (required for major repair/alteration) and ?acceptable data? (required for minor repair/alteration)
- Define maintenance terminology as defined in 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) part 1 (e.g., time in service, maintenance, preventive maintenance, major alteration, major repair, minor alteration, minor repair.
- Explain the privileges and limitations of a mechanic certificate.
