Student Learning Outcomes

Students will learn to identify defects, select appropriate repair materials, and identify techniques for layout, forming, and drilling sheet metal components. The course also includes knowledge on rivet selection, installation, and removal, as well as heat treatment for aluminum.

  • Select sheet metal repair materials.
  • Discuss layout, forming, and drilling of sheet metal components.
  • Select rivets, hardware, and fasteners for a sheet metal repair.
  • Describe heat treatment processes for aluminum.
  • Describe a rivet layout.
  • Describe rivet removal and installation methods.
  • Describe maintenance safety practices/precautions for sheet metal repairs or fabrications.
