Student Learning Outcomes
This course covers adult acquired cardiac pathologies. Topics include cardiovascular pathophysiology, quantitative measurements, and the application of 2-D, M-Mode, and Doppler. Students will gain essential skills in recognizing the sonographic signs of cardiovascular disease.Student Learning Outcomes
- Describe the etiology, signs and symptoms, treatment, and echocardiographic features of common valvular and myocardial diseases.
- Interpret sonographic appearances of the various cardiac diseases.
- Discuss the criteria for recognition, evaluation, and quantification of heart disease.
- Identify pathophysiology and hemodynamic consequences.
- Interpret ventricular heart dysfunctions.
- List lab findings with various cardiac diseases.
- Describe sonographic findings as observed with cardiac trauma.
- List treatments used when cardiac pathology is present.
