Student Learning Outcomes
Echocardiography students are assigned to various clinical rotations where they gain hands-on experience under the direction and supervision of assigned clinical preceptors. Students will focus on becoming proficient in the scanning of the adult heart. Emphasis will focus on students completing a clinical competency on a normal transthoracic echocardiogram, following a clinical facility protocol. Students will expand their scanning and patient care skills.Student Learning Outcomes
- Conduct appropriate patient care in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Demonstrate practical communication skills that enable effective cross-cultural work with health professionals and clients with backgrounds different from their own.
- Demonstrate proper infection control practices in a clinical settings.
- Participate in the day-to-day operations of an echocardiography department.
- Display teamwork in an echocardiography department.
- Perform transthoracic echocardiography exams.
- Interpret normal and abnormal echocardiography findings.
- Record patient history, measurements, and ultrasound findings on an echocardiography report.
- Translate ultrasound findings to a reading physician.
- Discover good ergonomic skills.
