Student Learning Outcomes
This is the final course in the Echocardiography Program. Students will focus on becoming proficient in the scanning of the adult heart. Students will perform various echocardiography exams under direct supervision of assigned preceptors. Upon completion of all required clinical competencies, students will be ready to enter the workforce as an entry-level echocardiography sonographer.Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate the critical thinking, cognitive, and psychomotor skills required for clinical work.
- Apply appropriate patient care in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Apply infection prevention techniques.
- Interpret the impact of transcultural communications and beliefs on diagnosis and treatment.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse clinical populations.
- Perform the day-to-day operations that are routinely done in an echocardiography department while being part of the team.
- Perform all ultrasound echocardiography exams.
- Record and process high quality images necessary for a diagnostic ultrasound examination.
- Interpret ultrasound exams that are performed in an echocardiography department.
- Determine normal and pathological conditions on sonograms that are routinely examined in an echocardiography department.
- Record patient history, measurements, and ultrasound findings on a sonography report.
- Translate ultrasound findings to a reading physician.
