Student Learning Outcomes
This applied mathematics course is for students pursuing a diploma in Machine Tool Technology. The primary goals of this course are to help individuals acquire a solid foundation of basic skills in algebra, geometry and trigonometry as applied to the machining field. Problem solving will be emphasized in the geometry, trigonometry, compound angle and numerical control sections.

- Solve problems that involve combined operations of fractions and decimals.
- Compute ratio and proportions.
- Perform arithmetic operations with imperial and metric linear units and compound numbers.
- Simplify and solve Algebraic expressions that involve combined operations.
- Apply geometric principles to solve practical problems involving circles and common
polygons. - Calculate angles and sides of right triangles using the functions of Trigonometry.
- Determine program dimensions using incremental and absolute positioning.
