SCTCC Graduate Regalia
Associate degree graduates wear a traditional black gown and mortarboard cap. SCTCC tassels are green.
Red, white & blue cords indicate graduating veterans who have the added achievement of serving our country.
The gold tassel, gold stole, and blue & gold cords indicate the graduate is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. This invitation-only organization is the International Honor Society for two-year colleges.

Kente Stole
The woven kente cloth, adapted from African tradition in Ghana, was typically worn by royalty but now is often added to graduation or other special occasions.
While these stoles are generally reserved for those with an African heritage, people of all races, genders and ethnicities have been seen using these because each of the colors have meaningful symbolism.
- The background color, black, represents maturity and spiritual depth.
- Blue means peace.
- Yellow or gold stands for prosperity.
- Green refers to planting, growth, and renewal.
- Maroon is healing.
