The SCTCC Practical Nursing program is excited to announce that it’s been accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing through Fall 2026.
The ACEN accreditation process has been ongoing over the past year, which included site visits and public input.
“Thanks go out to the faculty for their commitment and working many hours towards this achievement and continued success of the nursing program,” said Director of Nursing, Denise Meijer.
ACEN is recognized as an accrediting body for nursing education by the US Dept. of Education and Council for Higher Education Accreditation; accreditation through ACEN is a voluntary peer-review process that enhances quality improvement in the program. Accreditation is also beneficial for the following reasons: student recruitment, student admission to further education, state regulatory agency requirements, and employers seeking competent graduates.
“This is an amazing achievement of which the entire campus can be proud,” said Dean of Health Sciences, Bob Muster. “This length of accreditation speaks to the quality of the program itself as well as the college of which it is part.”
SCTCC Practical Nursing students consistently pass the NCLEX-PN board exams at higher rates than state and national levels, and the program is ranked as the third-best PN program in the state of Minnesota. The accreditation is a testament to faculty who work with students and input from area health industry. Congratulations to the PN program!
