The CACE/PARA Club at SCTCC has donated more than 400 new books to the Pediatric unit at the St. Cloud Hospital over the past year.
Club members handled ordering and tracking of book purchases through a book club, which earned bonus points to purchase extra books. All extra books purchased with bonus points were donated to the Pediatric unit, where every child who's admitted is given an age-appropriate book to take home from the hospital.
This is the second year the club has donated books. Next year they hope to expand the donation by adding a donation box to collect even more books.
"The hospital staff are very, very appreciative of our donation," said Connie Logeman, club advisor. "The child life specialist [at St. Cloud Hospital] said today that some children don't have many books of their own. They end up reading the books over and over again in the hospital and are thrilled that they get to take them home."
