Students MUST be a Current Student (applied and accepted to SCTCC).
Students can apply with pre-requisites in-progress, MUST be complete prior to the start of the program. Priority will be given to students with all pre-requisites complete at the time of application.
Each prerequisite and General Education course may be taken 3 times.
Consult with an advisor about the impact of repeated courses.
The Surgical Technology program is a 2.5 semester program that begins each Fall Semester (Fall semester, Spring semester & a 3-week Summer Term)
24 students are accepted each fall semester.
The Surgical Technology program is a full-time program only.
Once accepted to the program, classes are all held on-campus or at Clinical sites.
The Surgical Technology application window is open December 1st through February 15th. Application found at https://www.sctcc.edu/surgical-technology-apply-online
Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday approximately 8AM – 3PM for the Fall semester. Spring and Summer semesters include two clinical rotations of ten weeks each at area hospitals/surgery centers. This will be daytime hours and varies by facility (approximately 6AM- 3PM). Students will attend clinicals 4 days per week with class on campus once a week 8AM-1PM.
The Surgical Technology Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA).
