The Land Surveying/Civil Engineering second year students regularly spend a day in the spring cleaning up the ditch near the 25 acres they use for their survey practice.
This year they filled one large bag - the equivalent of two lawn and leaf bags. The weirdest thing they ran into this year was a full, unopened can of beer: "No one drank it, of course!" said instructor Sean Clark.
The practice site is along 20th Ave. SE and Minnesota Blvd and is controlled by the MN Correctional Facility; LSCE students practice surveying there each spring and clean up after practice.
