This past summer from July 31-Aug. 5, a group of Dental Hygiene graduates and instructor Kami Burgess volunteered their time on the island of St. Lucia to perform dental work.
Kelly Able, Morgan Schieber, Chelsea Scapanski, Hailee Schmidt, Tawnee Herold, Jada Kraus, and Toni Johnson joined the group of 18 dental professionals who helped 548 people in the small fishing village of Canaries.
“Giving people the ability to smile fills our love tank and fulfills a deeper sense of purpose and gratitude for ourselves,” said Burgess.
The dental students at SCTCC volunteer throughout their time at the college for several initiatives, including Give Kids a Smile.
