Three SCTCC Collegiate DECA team members are on their way to the International Conference in Baltimore after placing in first and second place at the Minnesota State Career Development Conference from Feb. 17-18.
Colby Peterson of Alexandria, Minn., placed first in Professional Sales.
Annalisa Gieser of St. Joseph, Minn., placed second in Professional Sales as well as second in Fashion Merchandising.
The team Joe Schreier of Slayton, Minn., and Colby Peterson placed first in Sports and Entertainment Marketing.
The State Career Development Conference, held virtually from Mankato, Minn., was an opportunity for students to experience real-life business scenarios in a competition environment. They also connected with potential employers by taking part in networking events and interacting with them during the competitions.
Collegiate DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. The SCTCC Collegiate DECA team is coached by Marketing Sales Management instructor, Becky Shand.
“I could not be more proud of these young adults. They challenged themselves to perfect their business skills and step out of their comfort zone, and the award winners earned a place to compete at the International Collegiate DECA Conference held in Baltimore in April. I cannot wait to see where their futures take them!” said Shand.
The International Career Development Conference will be held April 9-12, and the SCTCC team will compete with fellow emerging leaders from the United States and Canada.
Good luck at ICDC 2022!
