St. Cloud Technical & Community College earned a sweep of Minnesota West (7-0 and 10-1) on Friday, April 14, raising their overall record to 24-7 overall and a 7-1 mark in the MCAC Southern Division. The Cyclones are currently ranked 3rd in the NCJAA Division III national poll.
Shania Kinghorn earned the win for the Cyclones in grand fashion, pitching a no-hit shutout, conceding only one walk in 22 batters faced. Kinghorn was almost untouchable by the Lady Jays, as she struck out 13 over seven innings. If the great performance on the pitching circle wasn't enough, Kinghorn cracked a triple in a 2-for-4 day at the plate for St. Cloud Technical and Community College. Chelsea Schroeder and Chloe Callahan also had 2 RBI's each for STCCC.
In game two, Minnesota West was able to get on the board, courtesy of a run in the top of the fifth inning, but SCTCC piled on 10 runs over the course of game to walk away with the sweep. A six-run first inning paced the Cyclones in game two, with Ashley Pool hitting a home run and going the distance as a pitcher as well, striking out three Lady Jay batters. SCTCC spread their offense around, with Callahan, Brianna Kinghorn and Pool all tallying 3 RBI's each, and Morgan Majerus and Hannah VanHale also plating runners on the day.
