After a three-year hiatus, the St. Cloud Technical & Community College Auto Body skills student club hosted a car show September 23rd. Vehicles ranging from motorcycles, trucks, vintage and modern cars, were on display. Participants included SCTCC community members, as well as the broader St. Cloud community.
Tyler Kunstleben, SCTCC instructor and the club advisor said about the event, "It’s a good time to get students out here and together and looking at cars. And I think it’s also good for the community to gather some people together."
Winners in truck, car, motorcycle, and people's choice categories received trophies that were a collaborative effort between students from multiple programs. They were designed by students studying Mechanical Design Engineering Technology, cut and welded by students from the Welding program, and the color was selected and painted by students enrolled in the Auto Body program. Proceeds from the event will go towards funding a trip for the club to attend the SEMA trade show.
SCTCC's auto body program provides students with a comprehensive training. Covering both structural repair and refinishing, students can graduate with their Auto Body Collision Technician Diploma in less than a year ready to enter the industry.
