Mary Jordan, the SCTCC Librarian, is not shy about being enthusiastic about the Library. Every SCTCC student has access to the Library’s many resources, and here are Mary’s top five:
Books, obviously
Books on every topic you might need for class, fiction, magazines, manga, you name it. The shelves in the Library are packed with items you need or might not know you need.
Digital collection
There are QR codes around the Library on a program poster that you can scan and they will go DIRECTLY TO the digital collection. There are more than 780,000 items in the digital collection, and available 24/7!
Events and programming
Knitting, crocheting, jar dipping, how to take notes, sew buttons – there are so many options at the Library for fun. And if you’re not up to learn something new,…
De-stress activities
Sit with a sun lamp. Work on an easy puzzle. Work on a hard puzzle. Relax on a couch. “It’s not good for you to just keep banging your head against your books. That’s not the best way to study,” says Mary. Take a break. Walk around. Do a little puzzling. Check out a puzzle for home. So many options!
Mary!
The best resource the Library has is, in fact, the Librarian. Did you know that Librarians are holders of all knowledge? Did you know that a Librarian can get you a better search result than google? All true. Mary is here for you when you need to know what peer reviewed sources are, or how to cite MLA style, or even if you need a snack and a pick me up.
The SCTCC Library is open Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. during the academic year.
